Thermionic Culture Freebird: Getting Frequencies Right with Tubes
In today's pro audio technology, the warmth that antiquated vacuum tube can provide has no comparison. Everything from guitar overdrive to various modulation effects emanating out of tubes are loved so much due to the great consonance they provide. Equalizers are no exception to the rule as the new Thermionic Culture Freebird aims to demonstrate.
"Freebird" is a new three-channel valve EQ. It has a modular design that allows it to be easily integrated with other modular systems. The unit itself has a half-rack design for space economy but can also be put together with another unit in a 19" rack case for a total of six EQ channels. This modular design from Thermionic Culture will also be exhibited in other succeeding products to allow loyal fans of Thermionic Culture to develop other tube-based rigs of their own.

Line 6 Variax Guitars Designed by James Tyler Revealed
Not all guitar players have room for 20 guitars or more. Not everybody has a team or roadies to haul in multiple guitars for just one show. If one has the option of putting them all together in just one instrument, it will not be surprising if a person would invest in such an item. This is the logic behind Line 6 Variax. For 2010, new designs for the Variax come into existence courtesy of the new Line 6 Variax Guitars Designed by James Tyler.
James Tyler has been known among guitar building enthusiasts as the designer behind some of the guitars played by respected guitarists such as Steve Lukather, Michael Landau, and Dan Huff. These new Line 6 Variax guitars will be available in three styles, each of which reflective of the innovative style of James Tyler.

RME Babyface: One Interface That Is No Baby
Audio interfaces are the quickest way to turn a run-of-the-mill desktop computer with reasonable specs into a computer recording unit. While PCI cards remain to be the most reliable and FireWire interface have all the hype, USB audio interfaces are the most accessible. One big baby or no baby at all, the RME Babyface is revealing itself why it is one serious USB audio interface.
The RME Babyface sports 10 analog input and 12 output channels. For a USB interface, it's a pretty hefty sum. It utilizes a high-speed USB 2.0 bus and has been optimized for use with Windows and Mac OS environments. Talking about audio quality, its AD and DA converters are capable of delivering a maximum of 192 kHz.

Cordoba Guitars Fusion 12 Orchestra: Nylon For Steel String Players
Play a steel-string guitar for a while and then turn your attention to either a classical concert guitar or a flamenco guitar. You'll realize that they are all very different instruments both in terms of sound and construction. We're quite sure that you'll discover that most nylon-string guitars out there have very flat fingerboards and necks that are not as tapered as steel-string guitars. Resolving differences between nylon- and steel-string worlds, the Cordoba Guitars Fusion 12 Orchestra proves why hybrid designs work well.
The Fusion 12 Orchestra is a nylon-string guitar built like a steel-string. It provides the comfort of a steel-string guitar with its thinner 1-7/8" neck and radiused fingerboard. The body shape of the Fusion 12 Orchestra is bound with a light mahogany binding to accentuate the body shape, making it slightly different from a traditional nylon-string guitar.

Cordoba Guitars La Playa Travel SS: Roadworthy Musical Companion
Acoustic guitars, just like other musical instruments, have a delicate and fragile nature that can change in a few moments, depending on environmental conditions. This can get worse with traveling, being exposed to changes in temperature, humidity, as well as other factors that get acoustic guitar beat up while on the road. In an effort to address the traveling musician's needs, Cordoba Guitars has recently teamed up with surfer/musician Donavon Frankenreiter to develop the La Playa Travel SS.

Roland HD-1: V-Drum Kit For The Masses
Let's all face it: Despite lusting after various incarnations of V-Drums from Roland, a majority would have to agree that these instruments don't come in cheap. On the other hand, not everybody has enough room to accommodate a full V-Drums kit. It seems like the solution to quiet non-disruptive drumming is out of reach. Roland now has its latest attempt to address those concerns by issuing the new Roland HD-1.
The Roland HD-1 V-Drums is as basic as it can get. Having just a snare pad, three tom pads, a hi-hat trigger, two cymbal triggers, a hi-hat pedal controller, and a kick beater, its simple appearance can fool anyone into thinking that this is just a small kit with a few capabilities. It's good to note that the power it contains lies in its simplicity.
