While most piano sounds coming from both hardware and software instruments provide convenient alternatives to setting up an acoustic piano for recording, some of them just sound lifeless. In some way, these sample-based instruments lack that breath or liveliness that makes an acoustic piano sound as it should. Most of the time, this can be attributed to a lack of sympathetic resonance, and a new effect plugin called the Sound Magic PianoSR brings that to an otherwise dull piano sound.
PianoSR is a physical modeling sympathetic resonance generator for Windows. It boasts of having just a small footprint and minimal CPU usage to add liveliness to piano sounds. For accuracy's sake, PianoSR only generates sympathetic resonance based on incoming MIDI signals, making it a very useful tool for sample libraries that do not have a sympathetic resonance function. In effect, PianoSR makes piano playing with sample libraries sound more realistic.
