Pxing Game Studio Music Studio Suite: The iPad As a Musical Instrument Suite
Posted on Thursday, April 08 @ 00:00:00 CDT by admin

Electronic Music An iPad app here, an iPad app there, iPad apps everywhere. There's really a lot of hype with the iPad. Such hype has been both a source of praise and of criticism. Some of these critics apparently find nothing useful with a large touch screen interface, being content to the confines of the smaller iPhone. It's a different story for musicians, however, treating it much like a blank piece of paper for various purposes. As an example, the new Pxing Game Studio Music Studio Suite demonstrates why the iPad is worthy of being an instrument in itself.

Music Studio Suite boasts of being the most comprehensive musical instrumentm application for the iPad. Why does it have such a claim? It bears four main instrument groups that would be normally used in bands. Music Studio Suite's instruments have been designed to offer close to real life playability.

The instruments in Music Studio Suite are grouped into four sections:
    • Percussion - All percussion instruments come with real-life techniques such as slap, tap, and mute. Examples of instruments are bongo, conga and djembe.
    • Drum Kit - A five-piece drum kit with cymbals for jazz or rock.
    • Keyboard - Four-octave-long instrument that offers grand piano and strings.
    • Guitar - Equipped with strum pad and touch pad, this instrument simulates playing a real guitar with acoustic and electric guitar sounds available.
Looking into the list, Music Studio Suite is not as complete as it claims to be. For example, we do not see any bass instruments or alternative keyboard instruments such as tonewheel organs or synths. Other than being virtual instruments that can be used for live playing, Music Studio Suite doesn't offer anything else.

Pxing Game Studio Music Studio is now available from the Apple iTunes App Store for 2.99 USD.
