Just as flexible as its predecessor telecommunication device the iPhone, the iPad appears to be gaining momentum as the next big thing that has ever happened in the music and pro audio community. It now appears to be the all-purpose multimedia device that can just turn into anything from a book to a professional-grade musical instrument. Exploiting the iPad's numerous capabilities, Monotone Records TrixMix 2 makes the iPad take charge of your DAW application in your desktop.
TrixMix 2 is a new iPad application that turns the iPad into a wireless DAW controller. Supported DAW applications include Ableton Live, Propellerheads Reason, Apple Logic Pro, and any other DAW or music suite programs that has MIDI access to the mixing board.
TrixMix 2 has all of the necessary mixing console controls with pans and sends, transport, a keyboard controller, and customizable drum pads. Users have to customize their music software for use with TrixMix 2 to fit as needed. This application requires a WiFi receiver for Mac OS X, Windows, or Linux which can be downloaded from the Monotone Records website. Also available from the website are pre-configured document templates for Propellerheads Reason and Ableton Live.
For individuals requiring a MIDI DAW controller but already have an iPad, Monotone Records TrixMix 2 presents a more economical alternative. TrixMix 2 can be purchased from the Apple iTunes App Store for 0.99 USD.
For more information, visit the official website of Monotone Records.
