MILLS Acoustics Merlin 212: Weaving an Arthurian Spell for Guitarists
Posted on Tuesday, March 09 @ 23:00:00 CST by admin

Tools and Hardware Could it be that guitar cabinets are the key to making electric guitars sound magical even in the context of the bedroom? Most guitar amp manufacturers have thought of bringing concert-stage sound to the bedroom via low wattage amplifiers with cabinet design as second priority. MILLS Acoustics thought it would be a great idea to give those kinds of amps with an enchantment of sorts courtesy of the Merlin 212.

The Merlin 212 is a semi-open-back cabinet equipped with two 12" Celestion speakers. It is the latest addition to the MILLS Acoustics line-up of Pro-Tour Guitar Cabs and is especially set up for the musician that doesn't go out gigging every night.

The semi-open-back cabinet design is purposefully done to enhance the smooth and warm tone of the Merlin 212's Celestion Alnico Gold speakers. The drivers are mounted using a "floating baffle" design as basis. The speaker baffle is hand-planed to a 3/8" thickness and is suspended within the cabinet itself. This is then attached down the two vertical edges only to permit slight flexion and warm resonance at lower volumes.

    FEATURES:
    • Celestion Alnico Gold speakers 100W total handling
    • 8 or 16 ohm mono with 14ga. Stranded copper wiring.
    • 18mm/13 ply Baltic Birch
With its design, the MILLS Acoustics Merlin 212 cabinet is touted as the ultimate Jazz/Blues/Fusion cabinet by Dave Mills himself. This new cabinet is priced at an MSRP of 1,179.00 USD.
