Hudson Music "Groove Academy": Stanton Moore's Guide To The Funk
Posted on Friday, March 05 @ 23:00:00 CST by admin

Books & Literature Being the founding member of an act called Galactic as well as boasting of works with acts such as Robert Walter and metal band Corrosion of Conformity, Stanton Moore exemplifies diversity. Being also well versed in a number of genres including jazz, metal, rock, and funk, it is no wonder that Hudson Music has tapped him to create the ultimate guide to drumming in the way of Funk. "Groove Academy" by Stanton Moore, published by Hudson Music, paves the way for drummers to learn Funk drumming.

"Groove Academy" is Stanton Moore's very own program that he has put himself through to improve his funk and groove playing. This wealth of knowledge is all consolidated in two separate products: a DVD and a book/MP3 CD. These products contain a complete method for developing a vocabulary of grooves in funk-based styles.

The Groove Alchemy DVD consists three hours of material with Stanton presenting a historical overview of some of the most important drum grooves in history. His method demonstrates a concept of learning past material and developing new ones out of such grooves. Examples of educational concepts in the DVD would be the study and analysis of the styles James Brown's drummers such as Clyde Stubblefield and Jabo Starks as well as Joseph "Zigaboo" Modeliste of the Meters. Stanton Moore also includes some examples from his CD of the same name.

The Groove Alchemy book and CD package takes the learner into deeper funk territory as it covers the same topics in the DVD in a more comprehensive fashion. The book has transcriptions of all the historical grooves, Stanton's creative expansions and applications of all transcribed material. The book has over 600 examples, all of which are demonstrated in the MP3 CD. This package also contains our play-along tracks taken directly from Stanton's new Groove Alchemy CD.
