Realsamples English Spinet II - Edition Beurmann
Posted on Monday, February 08 @ 23:00:00 CST by admin

Electronic Music Edition Beurmann from Realsamples is in the business of bringing the sounds of authentic historical instruments into the digital realm. As such, almost everybody can get to enjoy playing the sounds of a period-authentic instrument for a more-or-less authentic-sounding performance. Another harpsichord library has been extracted out of Professor Andreas Beurmann's collection and brought to life through Realsamples English Spinet II.

If Stradivarius is a name for the finest violins ever made, 18th-century builder Benjamin Slade is the harpsichord equivalent. It is unfortunate though that only one of Benjamin Slade's instruments has managed to survived in this day and age. English Spinet II preserves such an instrument through digital means for present and future generations of instrumentalists to enjoy.

English Spinet II's samples have been recorded from the only known surviving Slade spinet in the world. It is a sample library consisting of 700 single samples that provides players access to the subtle nuances of the instrument itself. As it is based from a harpsichord, English Spinet II offers realism by its lack of touch sensitivity and the incorporation of key releases and other subtle sounds into its samples.

All of the samples in English Spinet II were recorded in the rooms of the Hasselburg estate using custom-made Wagner U47 tube microphones with Crane Song Flamingo preamps and Universal Audio 2192 digital converters at an audio resolution of 192 kHz/24-bit. The sample library itself also has essays by Professor Beurmann that explain the historical and musical background of the instrument.
