Roland V-Combo VR-700: A Huge Rig In Just A Tiny Keyboard Spot

If you've witnessed California Jam '74 on either TV, video, or live, one thing that you will notice is Keith Emerson's gigantic rig full of machines like his Moog Modular, Minimoogs, Moog Constellation, Hammonds, Concert Pianos, a Clavinet, and other stuff. It's nice to envision one having such gear for immediate use. The problem is that not everybody can have a crew like Keith Emerson's; even he himself had to downsize his rig in recent times, and he still has his crew to help him. The majority of keyboardists aren't so lucky to have resources such as his, and therefore the Roland V-Combo VR-700 is of great assistance. Why so? Read on.
The V-Combo VR-700 combines major "must-haves" for a keyboard player requiring every essential sound in just one keyboard. First of all, the VR-700 is a modern-day combo organ. It features Roland's Virtual Tone Wheel and COSM emulation technology in order to replicate an actual Hammond organ. The VR-700 is also equipped with nine drawbars for register control as well as a 76-note waterfall-style keyboard for that organ-playing feel.
Other than its "organic" characteristics, it also features other sounds in its ensemble section. It has a multisampled stereo grand piano sound that is characteristic of Roland's extensive series of digital pianos. Other ensemble sounds include electric piano, synth leads, strings, brass, and others. Expressive options include the standard joystick for pitch bend and modulation and Roland's D-Beam controller.
FEATURES:
- Roland’s acclaimed Virtual Tone Wheel and COSM technology provide authentic organ sound
- Dedicated harmonic bars, rotary-speaker simulation, and amp models, including Active Amp Enhancer
- 76-key waterfall keyboards offers smooth glissandos, fast action, and provides enough keys for splits
- Dual-manual simulation with Split function plus pedalboard capability (optional Roland PK-25A, PK-7A)
- Essential ensemble sounds (with tone remain function) onboard, including 88-key multi-sampled pianos, EP, strings, brass, synth pads, and more
- Full polyphony in the organ section, 128-voice polyphony for the ensemble section
- WAV/AIFF/MP3/SMF playback function for backing tracks
- Built-in rhythm patterns for practice and play-along performance
- Store user and system settings onboard and to USB memory sticks
- Versatile I/O, including professional XLR outputs
The Roland V-Combo VR-700 is scheduled for shipping this March 2010 and will have an MSRP of 2,329.00 USD.
