PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2: When Bigger Can Be Better
Posted on Wednesday, February 03 @ 23:00:00 CST by admin

Tools and Hardware PreSonus has enjoyed a lot of success with the StudioLive 16.4.2 digital mixer with its versatile design as both a live sound and studio implement. Some users wanted to have more than just 16 input channels. As such PreSonus felt the need to build something bigger. Banking on that success to make things bigger, the PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 has been introduced to the world.

Just like the 16.4.2, the StudioLive 24.4.2 is built to be as versatile as its predecessor. This new digital mixer still sports a user-friendly interface, a robust feature set, and extensive I/O configuration. However, its name suggests that it's a different machine with important upgrades.

Obviously, the numbers 24.4.2 suggest that the StudioLive 24.4.2 is a 24-input channel mixer. Each of these inputs has its own trim pot, XLR microphone input port with XMAX TM mic preamp, and 1/4" TRS balanced line inputs as well as unbalanced insert points. Similar to the 16.4.2, the 24.4.2 has four subgroup outputs but has 10 aux buses, four more than the 16.4.2's.

The StudioLive 24.4.2 is also a dual-port FireWire audio interface, just like the 16.4.2 that can route all channels and buses to and from a Windows or Mac system. It has, however, the edge of being able to send 32 channels to the computer and return 26 via FireWire as opposed to the 16.4.2's 22 x 18 capability. The StudioLive 24.4.2 has greater EQ options as it has four 31-band graphic EQs available to the main, subgroup, and aux outputs. Other than these, the StudioLive 24.4.2 has the same features as the 16.4.2.

The PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 digital mixer is expected to have a street price around 2,999.00 USD.
